Empowered with peanut processing skills, IDPs in Ydé gain a pathway to economic self-sufficiency.
On June 5, 2023, OSUDER, the Organization for Sustainable Development and Relief, conducted a skills training workshop for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The workshop focused on peanut processing and packaging, providing IDPs with an opportunity to acquire income-generating skills and enhance their livelihood.
The workshop was led by Madame Wongibe Evelyn, a skilled peanut processor with years of experience. Madame Wongibe shared her expertise with the participants, guiding them through the various stages of peanut processing, from assembling of ingredients, frying, packaging and labeling..
The workshop participants, eager to learn and improve their economic conditions, actively engaged in the training, asking questions and practicing the techniques demonstrated by Madame Wongibe. By the end of the workshop, they were able to confidently process and package peanuts, ready to turn this newfound skill into a sustainable source of income.
OSUDER’s commitment to empowering IDPs extends beyond skills training. The organization also provides participants with access to resources, such as start-up capital and marketing support, to help them establish their peanut processing businesses. This comprehensive approach ensures that IDPs have the necessary tools and support to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
We believe that together, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We invite you to join us in our mission to alleviate poverty, empower vulnerable communities, and foster sustainable development in Cameroon.
